Welcome to Our Adoption Blog

We're looking for you...are you looking for us?

Thank you for visiting our adoption blog. If you are pregnant and considering adoption, please take some time to get to know us.

We can't wait to adopt another child into our family. The joy of adoption came to us with our son, Dawson, and now we pray for that joy to come again. We have a completed home study for the USA (this means we are available for placement immediately) and hope to find a baby whose birth parent(s) know that we are the right match for them. We are excited to share our family with you and would love to get to know you better.

Destin Florida Vacation

We had a fabulous vacation to the Gulf Coast!  No oil on the beaches...planned to stay three days but stayed five...got a $250 gift certificate to the outlet mall for visiting...still have sand in the lining of my swimsuit, I can't seem to get it all out...very relaxing vacation...can't wait to go back to the beach!

Baby Blanket

My cousin is having a girl in November so I made her this baby blanket.  Our family has more boys than girls so it was fun to get to do a girl blanket.  I just found out last week that another cousin is having a girl and my sister is having a boy so I can't wait to make them blankies, too!

Birthday Cake

I made this double chocolate cake with white chocolate butter cream frosting for my friend's birthday.  I start my next set of cake classes in September, Fondant and Gum Paste, can't wait!

Grillin'

We've grilled pizza for a few years now but learned a new technique and love it so much we grilled pizza on Monday and Wednesday this week.  We've got lots of tips for anyone interested in trying this out.  We made margarita pizza, pepperoni & black olive, veggie, and buffalo chicken (has ranch dressing for the sauce instead of pizza sauce).  We loved them all!  This may be a weekly meal until the weather turns bad.  No, the pizza's aren't round, we haven't learned that technique yet ;)

We grilled peaches for dessert tonight and they were sinful.  Sprinkled them with a little brown sugar and cinnamon and served it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, super yummy!  I forgot to take a picture, I guess we'll have to make them again.

Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes

I found a new strawberry cake recipe I had to try with my Yummy Creamy Lemon frosting.  The recipe was good but I think next time I make it I'll add pureed strawberries to it.  The recipe was huge and made 100 mini cupcake and one 6" cake.  I was running out of time making the mini ones since I only have one mini pan.  We gave most of them away to friends and neighbors.  Although, there are still a few left and I think I'm going to head to the kitchen now to enjoy another one...or two.

Wild Animal Safari

We had family visiting and visited the Wild Animal Safari (aka the Drive-thru Zoo).  This place is hilarious!  These animals are so used to humans that they will stick their entire head in the car trying to get food.  The drool was a bit much for all of us but we loved getting to ride around in a mini-van with zebra stripes and letting the animals drool and run into it.  If you ever have a chance to go to a place like this you've got to do it, it makes for fun stories and lasting memories.

Stone Mountain Fireworks

We had a great time exploring this giant piece of granite.  It looks nothing like our countertops.  The fireworks/laser show was great and I can't believe it lasted 45 minutes.

What Happened to June?

Ever feel like time has passed you by? I think that's what happened to June. Julie was out of town twice this month (a conference with the youth from church & camping with the teenage girls from church) and we had company visit for a week and suddenly it's June 28th and we're scratching our heads thinking what just happened.  So what else did we do????

We saw Toy Story 3 and loved it!

We visited the World of Coke when grandma and grandpa were here. David had to work but the rest of us had fun sampling the majority of the 64 flavors they had available. Some where good and some were super disgusting.
Dawson being silly
Dawson took this picture but covered part of the flash

Pool Fun

We are lovin' the pool with all this heat.  Dawson jumps in with and without his life vest, swims to the bottom to pick up torpedoes, and lets us throw him up in the air.  No fear of water here.

Packing Foam

I let him do it!  I've always wanted to distroy the packing foam so why not let Dawson enjoy himself.  It started with him stabbing into the foam with one of his Hotwheel cars and ended like this.  He loved it and he even helped clean it up.

Vegetable Garden

We planted our vegetable garden the first part of April and it's doing great.  Dawson loves checking it's progress so I hope that means he'll eat everything we get out of it.  This year I tried spinach and broccoli but because of our hot weather I don't think it's going to make it.  The green beans, peas and tomatoes are doing great, as well as the corn, onions and carrots.  Can't wait to eat everything!

I took a picture of our hydrangea because I thought it looked so pretty.  This is the first year I didn't trim it and it looks the best it's ever looked.  Love it!

We were lucky to spend a week in Florida visiting Disneyworld and Clearwater Beach.  Can't wait to go back, coming back to the "real" world is a downer.

Happy Birthday

We had fun celebrating Dawson's birthday.  He loves his new scooter and has been riding it for several hours every day.  It's got a bell that he uses constantly and a personalize license plate.  He's enjoying all his new toys and even has to sleep with some of them.

When Dawson went to bed the night before his birthday we told him tomorrow he got presents and he said something about Santa Claus being the one to bring presents.  We laughed and then tried to help him understand.

Dawson helped design and make his cake.  We had lots of fun doing it together even when the frosting started to melt in the heat.  There was some finger licking but you can never have too many samples of frosting.  It's a confetti cake with lemon filling and lemon frosting.  All were his request.  It made him feel good to get to pick everything out.

Painting

Dawson saw this birdhouse at the store today and wanted it so we decided we would get it and he could try painting for his first time.  He loved painting it and since we were outside we could hear the birds and Dawson told them, "it's okay birdies, I'm making you a house so you can be nice and safe."  He's very excited about the finished piece and wants to hang it "way up tall in the tree."

Kite Flying

It was Spring Break last week so Thursday afternoon we got to fly kites and play at the park with some of Dawson's school age friends.  It was a perfect day for kite flying and playing at the park.  Dawson took the background picture of the Elmo kite in the sky and both the pictures with Julie in them.  He took about 100 pictures that day, some turned out and some did not but that's the fun of digital photography and the fun of being a kid with a borrowed camera.

Happy Easter

Atlanta Zoo

We visited the zoo on Saturday.  It was a beautiful day and most the animals were out, not necessarily active but they were out.  We had the most fun watching the gorillas, they were playful and there was lots of them.

Easter Egg Hunt 2010

At church this morning we had an Easter Program and Easter Egg Hunt.  The program was great and reminded us of the meaning of Easter.  The Easter egg hunt was entertaining.  They had all the kids 5 and under hunt in the grassy area in front of the church and we just had to laugh at how they actually had to hunt for eggs that were in plain site.  Dawson filled his bucket but still tried to get more eggs.  He was actually successful in getting more, only because as he ran he'd loose eggs and that made more room for the new ones.

Strawberries

What do you do with 12 lbs of Strawberries?
You make jam, strawberry shortcake, cut them up for cereal, eat a lot of them, and freeze some for smoothies.  Yum, spring is here and so are the strawberries!

Binky Patrol Blankets

David and I made blankets for http://www.binkypatrol.org" .  Binky Patrol makes and collects homemade blankets to give away to children in need of comfort.  It was a fun little project that even Dawson helped with.

Mayfield Dairy Tour

Don't you just LOVE hairnets?!
We had a great time in Tennessee last Friday.  We got to tour the Mayfield dairy and even met Scottie Mayfield, the President of the company.  Funny thing (as if the hairnets weren't enough) they never mentioned that milk comes from cows and we didn't see any cows.  We kind of expected to see the whole process from cow to final product.  Oh well, it was still a fun family outing.  We enjoyed yummy ice cream (Dawson had chocolate chip mint, Julie had Strawberry Cheesecake & David had Candy Bar), and chocolate milk.

New Family Pictures

Dawson was extra silly on picture day so it made for some fun shots.

February Ride

David's brother came into town for a long, fun weekend of dirt bike riding.  This is just 1 of almost 200 pictures.  They always play hard and have lots of laughs.

Wilton Course II Final Cake

I've always wanted to take cake decorating classes and have just finished my second course and this is my final cake.  We learned to make all those flowers, the birds (colorflow), the rope boarder and basket weave you see pictured.  Yellow cake with french vanilla mousse filling.  I can't wait to take the next class.

I made this tiered cake for a baby shower.  It was my first tiered cake and first time working with marshmallow fondant.  Chocolate and white cake with french vanilla mousse filling.

Snow In Atlanta

Snow doesn't happen very often in the south but it has snowed about 5-6 inches twice in the last 2 weeks and we love it!  We were all so excited to play in the snow and make a snowman.  Dawson learned to pick up the snow and make a snowball without any help...I guess it's a natural thing to want to throw the snow.  We even sledded down the hill in our backyard.  We love the snow!
